We are Recruiting

We are looking for a Senior Technical Experimental Officer - Robotics and Automation to join our team.

You will join the Intelligent Automation research team at Loughborough University working at the forefront of industrial human-robot and robot-robot collaboration. You will be part of the EPSRC funded projects IRaaS - Industrial Robots-as-a-Service and the Made Smarter Innovation – Research Centre for Smart, Collaborative Industrial Robotics.

The ambition is creating new robotics and automation solutions that naturally collaborate with people and other robots, proofing that human-robot teams can jointly carry out complex collaborative tasks with efficiency and quality exceeding those of monolithic dedicated systems. This will transform the responsiveness of traditionally difficult to change automation systems.

What will you be doing?

Design, build, setup, operate and maintain advanced automation and robotics systems in the Intelligent Automation Centre.

Support fundamental and applied automation and robotics research involving a wide range of industrial robots, grippers, vision and force/torque sensors, and control technologies.

Work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-institute team on the development of advance robotics concepts for manufacturing automation challenges.

You should apply if:

You have served a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship and/or obtained a BEng/MEng degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics engineering (or equivalent).

You have substantial experience in mechatronics, automation and/or robotics.

You are keen to work at the cutting edge of automation and robotics research and development.

You are excited about working in a multi-disciplinary team to explore new technologies that are directly applicable to industry.

If you have any queries regarding the vacancy, please contact Professor Niels Lohse, Director of the Intelligent Automation Centre (n.lohse@lboro.ac.uk).

We will provide both training and mentoring opportunities to enable everyone in the team to unlock their full potential.

We will consider flexible and part-time working wherever possible. This is an open ended position, but is subject to research funding levels.
