Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Today is "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" so we would like to share with you a short introduction to Claire Pottier, who is a Doctoral Researcher here in the Intelligent Automation Centre

Here's what we asked her and how she responded:

What introduced you to Engineering?

"A charity called "IndustriElle" introduced me to engineering. At first, I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do, and I had a lot of preconceptions about the world of engineering. This charity helped me to open my eyes to the world and to remove my fears and prejudices. I have been passionate about science since I was a little girl. I want to know more about the complexity of the world, I want to understand it and revolutionise it."

Why did you choose Loughborough?

"I chose Loughborough University for many reasons. My first reason was the PhD offer. It was tailor-made for me. I also chose this university for the team, the working and living environment, and the experience. Doing a PHD is an incredible experience. You grow a lot and discover a lot about the world and yourself. I recommend it!"

What do you hope do when you have completed your PhD?

"After my PhD, I would like to become a lecturer. I really enjoy the academic world. I would like to pass on my passion for science and my field. I would like to stay in the UK at first. This country gives me more opportunities than in France for research. I also want to move, maybe to Norway, Germany. I want to take risks and keep moving and learning more."
