Work With Us
The Centre focuses on fundamental research that is driven by industrial needs and challenges. Partnerships with key industrial and RTO partners enable us to channel our resources to support the evolution and growth of industry.
Many of our current research challenges are based on the needs of one or more of our partners and we work together to develop initial ideas into working proof of concept demonstrators.
Our unique relationship with key Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs), including The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), High-Speed Sustainable Manufacturing Institute (HSSMI) and other High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult Centres provide further opportunity to develop the industrial readiness of these solutions through a continuous and collaborative pipeline.
We are keen to reach out beyond our existing network to the wider manufacturing industry, especially engaging with SMEs. We aim to build relationships, working with companies who may otherwise have little access to such high value work. With support from our partners, we are identifying automation issues for smaller manufacturers and opportunities to address these challenges. We are currently working with a small number of non-aerospace SMEs to explore the potential for automating complex and highly skilled processes. The initial work to identify and understand these challenges is funded through our outreach programme.
The Centre is also keen to grow and expand into different industrial areas and welcomes expressions of interest from companies interested in becoming involved and shaping the Centre’s future research and innovation direction.
Opportunities for collaboration include, but are not limited to:
- PhD/EngD Research Studentships
- Public Funded Collaborative Research Projects (e.g. UKRI, ERC, EU)
- Supported Innovation Projects (e.g. Innovate UK, EU)
- Specific R&D Projects (e.g. Feasibility Studies, Proof of Concept, Prototypes, Consultation)
- Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (e.g. Innovate UK, EU)
- PhD, Researcher and Engineering Exchange Programmes
