Members of the International Office and academic staff regularly travel to Brazil, and Loughborough University has also hosted visitors on our campus from the British Embassy in Brazil. We work with numerous universities, including the University of Sao Paulo, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and Unicamp.

We accept lots of different qualifications, to learn what qualifications we accept from your country please see below. This is only a list of qualifications we accept, to learn the minimum entry requirements you will need to refer to the degree you want to apply for.
Students taking the Brazilian High School Certificate(Certificado de Ensino Médio and Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio – ENEM) will need to complete a suitable Foundation Year.
Loughborough University has its own Foundation Year for high-calibre international students who have successfully completed 12 years of school education. Alternatively, please contact the International Office to check if the Foundation Programme that you are considering taking is acceptable for entry to Loughborough courses.
Students with A Level or IB qualifications will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate degree courses. Please see the undergraduate prospectus for specific course requirements.
All students must also achieve the University’s English language requirements.
What is an undergraduate degree?
Typically an undergraduate degree is the first level of study in higher education. Undergraduate qualifications include BA, BSc, BArch and BEng. Once you have graduated from an undergraduate degree you will have the opportunity to study a postgraduate degree.

What is a postgraduate degree?
There are two types of postgraduate degrees; a postgraduate taught degree and a postgraduate research degree.
A postgraduate taught degree refers to the level study you can progress onto once you have completed an undergraduate degree. It is more advanced than an undergraduate degree, and the qualifications you can obtain include MA, MSc, MBA, MRes, PGDip, and PGCE.
A research degree, also known as a doctorate, is typically undertaken once you have graduated from a postgraduate taught degree. Research degrees include PhD, EngD, CDTs and MPhil.

What is an international foundation programme?
Our International Foundation Programmes (IFY) provides international students with a foundation understanding of their chosen subject area. It’s typically used as a stepping stone for applicants who have not met our standard entry requirements of our undergraduate degrees. Upon successful completion, students can progress onto the relevant undergraduate courses.
English language requirements
The standard University IELTS English language requirements is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some degrees may require higher levels English language, these have been clearly stated on the individual degree pages.

Below is a list of approved agents/educational advisors who have a contract with Loughborough University. Fees and scholarships
All students who enrol to study at Loughborough University should make sure they are fully aware of the cost of tuition for their chosen degree, the accommodation they will be staying in, and any associated living costs. Below are some indicative costs, however further details can be found at the relevant pages listed below.
Students will need a further £4,000 - £6,000 to cover expenses such as food, books, clothes, insurance, laundry, entertainment, travel within UK etc. Travel to and from home is not included. £6,000 should cover additional costs for postgraduate living in a self-catered hall for 50 weeks in the year. £4000 should cover additional costs for undergraduate living fully-catered hall for 39 weeks in the year.
The average living expenses for an undergraduate, with catered accommodation included, should be roughly £1040/month.

Culture and community
Brazilians at Loughborough tend to become fully involved with the student experience and immerse themselves wholly in British culture. From playing handball or futsal for the University teams, living in our top-ranked accommodation or joining one of the 100 clubs and societies that form part of the Students’ Union.
Loughborough Students’ Union provides a home away from home for Brazilian students, by organising events and activities throughout the year, including trips across the UK and nights out in and around Loughborough. The trip organisers listen to the students’ suggestions. Some popular excursions for Brazilians have been the Harry Potter film studios, a Beatles tour in Liverpool and the historic city of York. Brazilian students also speak about how much they take advantage of the University’s close proximity to East Midlands airport, only 20 minutes from campus, to travel cheaply across Europe.
