  • Visiting Fellow in Geography

Ebenezer F. Amankwaa is a Senior Lecturer of Human Geography at the University of Ghana. He is an Affiliate of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and a Fellow of Future Africa. His research interests span across economic, development and environmental geography including water and energy infrastructure; informality and mobility; environmental health; climate change; and governance. These interests complement Geography and Environment’s research strengths in cities, climate change, governance and youth.

Ebenezer is currently collaborating with colleagues at Loughborough University on two research projects. The first is analysing the vulnerability of extreme heat in schools. The second is investigating ways to reduce extreme heat and improve indoor air quality in hospitals. They have recently completed a British Academy funded research project that focused on developing and implementing low-cost interventions for reducing heat stress in urban contexts. Resources from this project can be found at Reducing the Impact of Extreme Heat to Improve Well-Being in Cities | The British Academy.
