PhD Topic/Title: From energy balances to funding applications: what dataset must we need to financially realize a global clean energy transition?

Research

SDG7 states that all countries should have access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy. However, the government and relative energy ministries do not have the raw data and resources to guide investment into specific clean energy applications. Much of the time, data is unclear, inconsistent, lacking, costly to obtain, too long in coming, or from unreliable sources. Thus, there is a need to identify data needed in the chain from energy balances to funding applications, for a set of bulk energy investments, to achieve SDG7.

Naomi’s PhD research therefore focuses on evidence-based policy making to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems, to meet development priorities in the Global South. This research is also part of the UK FCDO-funded Climate Compatible Growth Programme.
