PhD Topic/Title: Geographies of parenting during the covid-19 pandemic

Research

Since March 23rd 2020 when Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared a national lockdown in the United Kingdom due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the boundaries of homespace and practices tied to this space have quickly evolved. With schools closed across the UK, the lives of families with school aged children were severely impacted. There was little preparation and support to navigate parenting during this unfamiliar time.

Emily’s PhD-research aims to gain more insight into the geographies of parenting and the experiences of families during the pandemic in relation to how employment, education and home life was managed during this time.
