Alisha Higgins

MSc (Loughborough University)

Pronouns: She/her
  • Laboratory Assistant

Alisha is a Laboratory Technician on a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship led by Dr Kate Mathers. The objective of the project is to identify, examine and quantify the primary abiotic and biotic controls influencing the ecosystem effects of instream sedimentation. This will be achieved using a combination of methodologies such as meta-analyses of international datasets, an extensive field sampling programme, and flume and mesocosm experimentations.

Alisha’s MSc research explored the ingestion of ‘natural’ and anthropogenic fibres by the invasive Asian Clam through mesocosm-based experiments. Prior to her masters degree, she investigated the effects of multiple stressors on macroinvertebrate communities in the River Wensum using secondary data. As a laboratory technician, Alisha works with river macroinvertebrates and fine sediment.

Alisha’s research interests lie within aquatic ecology and invasive species.
