Maud van Soest awarded Santander Mobility Award

Postgraduate Researcher, Maud van Soest has been awarded a Santander Mobility Award (£1500) from the Doctoral College.

Maud will be using the award to fund an internship with COVRA (Centrale Organisatie Voor Radioactief Afval / Central organisation for radioactive waste) in the Netherlands where she will receive training in gamma spectrometry including the analysis of obtained isotope signals.

This short internship will enable Maud to learn a new research method that will greatly enhance her project by enabling her to constrain the timing of soil formation in her Greenland study catchments. The collaboration will also be valuable for the company – owned by the Dutch government – as it enhances their link with research and the use of gamma spectrometry in soil science.
