Historic Environment Scotland and Wessex Archaeology Contract – Dr David Ryves and Jon Lewis

Dr David Ryves and Dr Jon Lewis have been awarded a contract worth around £34,000 with Historic Environment Scotland (HES), in collaboration with Wessex Archaeology.

This contract is to facilitate palaeolimnological analysis of Loch Linlithgow near Edinburgh (on the shores of which are the atmospheric ruins of Linlithgow Palace, seat of Scottish monarchs from the 15th and 16th centuries, and where Mary Queen of Scots was born).

The contract is in 3 phases: with Phase 1 complete (lake coring and preliminary report), and Phases 2 and 3 to be delivered over the next year (sediment core analysis to investigate human impacts on the lake over the last few centuries).
