Induction for International, European and exchange students
All new international, European and exchange students are invited to attend an induction and welcome meeting during the first week of the Autumn Term.
Each meeting will consist of an induction presentation followed by a buffet reception. Separate meetings will be held for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students.
Induction for undergraduates and exchange students
Induction for postgraduate students
What will be covered at the induction?
Each induction session will include information about:
- Support services for international students
- Local religious groups and organisations
- NHS medical and dental services
- Transport, mail and telephones
- Personal and road safety
- Opening a bank account
- Police registration
- Helping you extend your visa
- Understanding culture shock
Students who have attended a pre-sessional English language programme are asked NOT to attend these induction presentations. This is because the pre-sessional English language programme has already included your international induction information.
Postgraduate Research students will be invited to a separate induction programme offered by staff development.
You will also be required to attend an induction meeting for your specific course. The timetables for these meetings can be found here.
For further information about the induction session, please contact the International Office.
