Veronica works closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to provide the strategic leadership required to progress a ‘whole university’ approach enabling greater equality, diversity, and inclusivity, respect, and dignity for all students at Loughborough.
This role includes providing advice and guidance to the University and its senior leaders in student EDI and wellbeing and liaising with external agencies and departments across the university.
Veronica also Heads Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity and, through this role, leads the implementation of the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Strategy working in collaboration with the PVC for Student Experience and Teaching, the Academic Registrar and other key colleagues in schools and professional services.
Veronica has worked at Loughborough University since 2014, initially as Head of Counselling and Disability and then as Head of Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity. Veronica previously worked as Head of Staff and Student Counselling and Mental Wellbeing at Leicester University 2002 – 2014) and before that, as the Deputy Principal and Principal Officer of Staff Counselling and Support at Coventry City Council (1996 – 2002).
Veronica has qualifications and practice experience in both social work with children and families (specialising in fostering and adoption) (CQSW, BA Hons. Applied Social Sciences) and in psychotherapy (MA Integrated Psych.). Veronica also holds professional diplomas and post graduate certificates in couple’s therapy, mediation in the workplace and the clinical supervision of helping professionals.
Veronica currently sits on the board of Directors for The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE).
