An Introduction to Pre-sessional Courses
The Pre-sessional Courses are for international students who have not yet reached the required level of English for their chosen academic course at Loughborough University
Pre-sessional Courses A and B will not be running in 2021. Further information on Pre-sessional Courses C and D 2021 (including dates and fees) will be available shortly.
If you have an offer for a Loughborough University or Loughborough University London degree programme but have not yet achieved the minimum English language requirements, you may be eligible to join one of our pre-sessional courses.
The shorter pre-sessional courses C - 11 weeks , D - 6 weeks as well as the 2 week Preparation for Academic Study (Summer Course) are also suitable for students who may have achieved the minimum English language requirements but who wish to prepare more fully for their studies. Please contact our team for advice on the best course for you.
Phases of Intensive English Language Pre-sessional Courses:
The primary aim of our pre-sessional courses is to prepare international students for the demands of their programme of study by:
- increasing students’ overall level of English language proficiency;
- equipping students with the academic English and study skills required to cope with the learning demands of a Loughborough degree programme; and
- assisting students’ integration into the British social and academic environment.
The pre-sessional courses aim to help students through the transition period from their own country to Britain. The University strongly recommends that students who have not studied in Britain before should attend a pre-sessional course, as this enables them to work much more effectively, and therefore successfully, in a British University environment when their academic courses begin.
