Curator comment by NAGASAWA Natsuho about “Daydream” by Lunon.

Daydream. What kind of scenery do you imagine when you hear this word?

This word has the meaning of having an unrealistic experience of visualizing images of our fantasies as if they were happening in real life. In other words, it is a word that evokes a state of floating as if you were dreaming.

This work has two fascinating elements.

One is related to color and the other is a butterfly.

Some people may feel the color is disconcerting.

The contrast between scenery you usually see and the scenery in this work is different in terms of color intensity and brightness of each motif.

Also, there is a connection between the theme of this exhibition, INVERSION, and the highlight of this work, the butterfly. One spiritual meaning of butterflies is associated with human life and death, and they are also known as symbols of resurrection.

This sense of incongruity of color, and a space where the two opposites, life and death exist, create an otherworldly wonderland-like atmosphere.

Instead of just looking at the work, try talking to the artist through the work.

The "something" you get there will make you forget even for a moment, the negative words and things you feel in your daily life.

Curator comment by NAGASAWA Natsuho about “sometime, somewhere, somehow” by L. BEREZENKO.

The first thing we see when we look at this work are probably the two arms.

The owners of these arms appear to be a man and a woman. It can be said that men and women have gender-related differences and there is gender-related INVERSION. Recently, however, gender is no longer separated into two genders. There are people whose bodies and minds have different genders. In this respect, it can be said that perceptions of gender of the past, present, and future can be viewed in terms of INVERSION.

Let's go back to the beginning.

Are the two arms in this work really male and female? Is the background just a cloth or a sheet? Are the two arms in the sleeve of a suit? Even in the world of this postcard, there is no end to the "questions" Also, what is the shadow on the left arm? What kind of people are the owners of two arms?

There are endless "questions" regarding the world outside the postcard.

The gender reversal of men and women, the reversal of common sense of the past and the present, the reversal of real things and shadows, You will be interested in the world inside and outside this postcard.

It can be said that this work is a work depicting physical contact of holding hands.

This work fills the distance and loneliness created by the COVID pandemic and provides an opportunity to experience new values, don’t you think?
