Curator comment by NOMOTO Haruna about “Inversion-Rebirth” by WENG Hui.

One of the meanings of ‘inversion’ is transposition. Types of inversion also include visceral inversion. This refers to a condition in which an internal organ is arranged in the opposite position as if it were reflected in a mirror. This artwork depicts something that reminds us of female genitalia. A rose flower is drawn, surrounded by loose things like afterimages of light.

The title of this work includes the word "rebirth". It means regeneration or rehabilitation, and the title gives the impression that the rose is trying to regenerate. However, as I mentioned earlier, if something like female genitalia is inverted, is it possible for this life to be born?

Curator comment by NOMOTO Haruna about “Untitled” by Chloe WINCH.

The word ‘inversion’ includes the meaning of reversal. In this work, the square frame with a distinctive blue sky and the monochrome background are paired in color and layout, and the contrast between the blue sky and the black background is impressive.

A broken mirror is used in this work, and you can feel the refreshing and cool air from the sky reflected in the mirror. I wonder who owns this beautiful yet ephemeral scenery that spreads out from the cracks made by breaking the mirror. It looks like it would collapse if touched.
