Curator comment by KATORI Ayame about “Make a Whoosh” by MATSUZAKA Kyoko

This work expresses the theme "INVERSION" in an easy-to-understand manner.

The entire work has cute colors and touches, and gives a friendly and gentle impression, softening the rigid image of "INVERSION".

First of all, the situation of this work is a puppy's birthday, and the motifs are mainly a puppy and a cake.

It seems that there are parts that express reversal and turnabouts that can be understood at a glance, and other parts expressing inversion that become visible when you look carefully.

Usually, the cake would be stationary and the puppy would be moving, but the situation of the cake and the puppy is reversed and turned around, and the cake is moving and the cream is flying at the puppy. In addition, you can feel "INVERSION" in various parts, such as the flag garland in the back and the puppy's ears are turned inside out. Like in this work, you can feel "INVERSION" from places familiar to you.

In addition, the fact that the title of the work is "Make a Whoosh" also stimulates our imagination. Please think about the connection and relationship between "Make a Whoosh" and "INVERSION" and view this work.

Curator comment by KATORI Ayame about “Layers” by Amaya GARCIA-GARCIA

This work was made using colored paper. When I saw this picture, it made me think of “INVERSION”. Various surfaces are revealed through three-dimensional deformation and color changes. It contains a variety of visual information, such as the appearance of changing colors, gradation, reflections of light, optical illusions, etc. on the same surface. I feel that it is a work that I would never get tired of viewing. If you look further, you can feel thermographic elements, mirrored elements, and dynamism, making it a truly interesting work. I think that how people perceive it and what they pay attention to would be quite different depending on the viewer. So I wish many people to see this work and I would like to hear many opinions and perspectives.
