Stuart Miller
BSc Management Sciences 1990
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, ByBox
Stuart received a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012 for his outstanding achievement in enterprising business.
Stuart has always been entrepreneurial. He launched his first entrepreneurial venture importing vintage saxophones after establishing the University’s first full jazz orchestra as an undergraduate student.
After graduating with a first class honours degree, Stuart worked as a Consultant with Andersen Consulting, now Accenture. In 1994 he established Octopus Information, a call centre-based concierge service. The sale of this company funded the first stage of his next venture, the creation of ByBox.
ByBox is the UK’s leading business-to-business overnight parts delivery service, and as CEO and Co-Founder, Stuart is a fantastic example of a driven and entrepreneurial Loughborough graduate who has overcome initial setbacks to achieve great success. Stuart has also co-authored several GB, European and US patents.
In addition to his business commitments, Stuart also finds time to support various charitable and not-for-profit organisations. He is a board member of Fredericks Foundation Oxfordshire, a charity supporting disadvantaged entrepreneurs to start and grow enterprises, and is Vice Chairman of Oxfordshire Business First. He has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport since 2005. He also gives music lessons to prison inmates, teaching the saxophone.
