International Tax Partner, EY

Gay was recognised for her outstanding commitment to coaching and mentoring women in business with a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017.

Gay spent 25 years of her career working for Ernst and Young (EY) and was a partner in the firm for over 20 years. As an International Tax Partner, Gay was responsible for managing EY’s global tax relationships with key FTSE 100 clients, and providing strategic advice to boards on high profile and transformational cross-border transactions. She is passionate about helping women to further their careers and is a mentor with the 30% Club mentoring programme.

Gay is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Over her time with EY she worked in the London and New York offices, building a strong personal brand and market presence in both countries.

She worked closely with senior management in global multibillion dollar businesses, advising on international mergers and acquisitions, and successfully led a strategically important team in EY, establishing a market-leading team of motivated and successful professionals. Her business responsibilities included profit and loss, strategy, people and risk. She has regularly contributed to publications and spoken at conferences on tax and business issues.

As part of her management role, Gay was actively involved in leadership development, and in coaching and mentoring of women, becoming a role model and mentor inside and outside EY. She is now a mentor on the 30% Club mentoring programme which offers cross-company and cross-sector mentoring to women aspiring to senior management positions.

Gay enjoyed playing hockey for the University team and played for the winning team in the UAU championship during her time at Loughborough. She continues to follow the sport with interest as her daughter is a keen player.
