Brian Yip

Brian received a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019 for his outstanding achievements in retail, support of education and commitment to inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders in retail.
Brian has more than 20 years' experience working in the retail industry. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant and spent part of his career working for one of the 'big four' accountancy firms.
Having undertaken his student placement with Barclays, Brian also studied Mandarin at Jinan University in China. Since his studies, Brian has spent his career in accountancy and played a big part in the family business, Wing Yip.
Wing Yip have four supermarkets in Birmingham, Manchester, Croydon and Cricklewood, supplying the catering and foodservice industry. The company has expanded to cover trading, property and investments, as well as continuing to produce groceries.
Brian has been pivotal in establishing a partnership between Loughborough University and Wing Yip Plc, and for two years Wing Yip have sponsored the 'Introduction to Retail' module in the School.
The company has welcomed students on visits to their headquarters and students have worked on real world projects to present back to the company directors. Students are also being offered placements with Wing Yip in 2020. With thanks to Brian’s passion for supporting the next generation, the Wing Yip Foundation have supported six students in the School from low income backgrounds with scholarships.
Brian is married with two children and remains an active part of the family business, which has seen huge success in its 40-year history. He has championed the partnership with the University and continues to show a genuine interest in supporting current Loughborough students who are interested in a career in retail.
