Professor Oleksandr Dluhopolskyi

Prof. Dluhopolskyi is a Doctor of Science in Economics and a full Professor of the Economics Department at West Ukrainian National University (WUNU), is a Board Member of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NAQA, Ukraine) and Executive Director of the Non-Governmental Organisation “Civic Synergy”.
Prof. Dluhopolskyi has led numerous international projects and conducted impactful research focused on the quality of higher education, sustainable economic development, and social inclusion. His research stays at institutions such as GESIS EUROLAB (Cologne, 2015) and the Polish National Commission for UNESCO (Warsaw, 2017).
These achievements have been used to improve higher education quality and develop educational frameworks tailored to individuals with special educational needs. Prof. Dluhopolskyi serves as a project manager and investigator in various Erasmus+:
1. “Education for Sustainable Development: Synergy of Competencies for the Renewal of Ukraine” (SUSTED) as the institutional lead.
2. “Academic Freedom and Inclusion Through Digitalisation” (AFID) in collaboration with Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
3. “Boosting Business Intelligence Skills for SMEs” (Bi4SME): In partnership with academics from Poland, Spain, Greece, North Macedonia, and Cyprus, he created an educational platform to train users on leveraging Big Data tools for business intelligence.
4. He recently received a research grant for a visit to CISEPS at the University of Milano-Bicocca in winter 2025.
Beyond academia, Oleksandr empowers communities through training in grant writing and social entrepreneurship. He also works with NGOs “Innovative University” and “Poruch” to advance higher education reform and youth policy.
During their IAS Fellowship, Professor Dluhopolskyi will be collaborating with Dr Oksana Adamyk from the Loughborough Business School.
