IAS Opportunities

There are a currently number of exciting opportunities to engage with the Institute of Advanced Studies to bring IAS Fellows to Loughborough’s campuses.


The Institute of Advanced Studies is delighted to announce a major new initiative, the IAS Residential Fellowship programme, which will begin from September 2020. The Residential Fellowship programme adds significantly to the current portfolio of opportunities offered by the Institute to bring leading international scholars to the University as IAS Fellows.

IAS Residential Fellowships are open to outstanding international researchers from across all disciplines and career stages who wish to pursue a month-long research residency within the scholarly community of Loughborough University and its Institute of Advanced Studies.

The deadline for applications is 15th May for Fellowships tenable between September 2020 and end July 2021. Please complete the Application for IAS Residential Fellow and submit completed applications to ias@lboro.ac.uk.

IAS Open Programme

The IAS Open Programme invites applications from academic colleagues to host a short term IAS Visiting Fellow.

The scheme runs throughout the academic year and is open to colleagues from both Loughborough campuses. Our remit is completely open – we welcome applications to host outstanding scholars from any field or discipline. The scheme enables awardees to initiate or extend research collaborations, raising international connections and profile.

We will have 4 deadlines across the academic year:

  • 2nd September 2019 – for visits taking place between December 2019 – February 2020
  • 2nd December 2019 – for visits taking place between March 2020 – May 2020
  • 6th March 2020 – for visits taking place between June 2020 – August 2020
  • 3rd June 2020 – for visits taking place between September 2020 – November 2020
