Headshot of Professor Yong Qin

IAS Open Programme

Lanzhou University

Dr Yong Qin is a professor in the School of Materials and Energy, Lanzhou University, P.R. China. He received his bachelor and PhD degree in Materials Physics from Lanzhou University in 1999 and 2004, respectively.

His research interests concern nanogenerator, hybrid energy harvesting technology, functional nanodevices and self-driving nanosystems. He has published more than 130 peer-reviewed papers in high profile journals, including Nature, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communication, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Materials, Nano Letter, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, etc. The whole citation of his publications is more than 12,000 with the h-index of 50. He is one of scientific pioneers on piezoelectric nanogenerators and the recipient of several prestigious awards, including Ross Coffin Purdy Award by the American Ceramic Society in 2009. This is an award to scholars from all over the world who have made most valuable contributions to ceramic community. Since then, the areas of nanoenergy and self-powered systems were born, which have significant applications in sensor networks, mobile electronics and internet of things.

During their IAS Fellowship, Professor Qin is collaborating with Dr Hongtao Zhang from the Department of Materials.
