Dr Benjamin David Goddard

Ben is currently a Reader in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh, and a member of the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences. Previous to this, he was a lecturer at Edinburgh, preceded by postdocs in the groups of Serafim Kalliadasis (Imperial College, Chemical Engineering) and Volker Betz (University of Warwick, Mathematics, now TU Darmstadt, Mathematics).
He undertook his PhD under Gero Friesecke (University of Warwick, Maths, now TU Munich, Mathematics).
Broadly speaking, his research concerns modelling, analysis and numerics for complex, multiscale systems. His work has applications in chemistry, physics, engineering, biology, and social science.
