Thomas Padilla is Director of Information Systems and Technology Strategy at the Center for Research Libraries.

He is Principal Investigator of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation funded Collections as Data: Part to Whole; Past Principal Investigator of the Institute of Museum and Library Services funded, Always Already Computational: Collections as Data; and author of the research agenda, "Responsible Operations: Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI in Libraries".

Thomas is Chair, ACRL Research and Scholarly Environment Committee; Technical Advisory Board Member, Linked Infrastructure for Networked Cultural Scholarship; and National Advisory Board member, Opioid Industry Documents Archive.
