IAS Friends and Fellows Afternoon Tea

On Tuesday 14th November we will be hosting an IAS Friends and Fellows Afternoon Tea, where we will be joined by Open Programme Fellows Professor Alessandro Rubino, Dr Godfrey Ndlovu and Professor Josef Fahlén.

Professor Alessandro Rubino

Professor Rubino is a distinguished economist with specialized knowledge in energy economics. His research finds roots into energy economics and regulation, having a focus on the innovative regulation system. Before joining the academia, Professor Rubino he held key roles in the energy sector, working in the UK as a Senior Economist at Ofgem (Office of the Chief Economist) in London, and as a Senior Editor of Nature Energy, where his editorial expertise enhanced the debate on energy-related matters. Professor Rubino's commitment to renewable energy extended to his role as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Renewable Energy Solutions Association for the Mediterranean (RES4MED) in Italy.

Dr Godfrey Ndlovu

Godfrey is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where he teaches post graduate level courses in Financial Economics since 2017. He is also the convener for the honours degree in Economic Analysis of Financial Markets. Before joining the University of Cape Town, Godfrey was a lecturer at the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe, where he taught a number of finance courses at both undergraduate and masters level about 8 years(2010-2017). Dr Ndlovu holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Cape Town, Master of Science degree in Finance and Investment and honours degree in Management, both from the  National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe. Godfrey has a strong passion for higher education and learning and continuously seeks to improve his approach to teaching and learning, in 2020, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Studies, from the University of Cape Town.

Professor Josef Fahlén

Josef Fahlén, PhD, is Professor at Umeå University, Sweden, and Visiting Professor at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo, Norway. Currently, Professor Fahlén serves on the editorial boards of the European Sport Management Quarterly, the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, the International Review for the Sociology of Sport, and acts as Associate Editor of the European Journal for Sport and Society. In his research, Professor Fahlén focuses on the interaction between sport policy and the organization of sport and has led numerous research projects on sport policy making and implementation in the Swedish, Scandinavian, and European contexts. Currently, Professor Fahlén is reporting the findings from a large comparative research project that has studied the potential of voluntary organized club sport in contributing to the integration of newly arrived migrants.
