The IAS are delighted to welcome Professor Songchun Moon, IAS Residential Fellow who will be giving a talk titled 'What are Data? The Value of Data Questioned in the Era of Coronavirus'

We are living in the era of data; a time when decision-making is made on the basis of ‘accurate’ data. But what if most data turns out to be inconsistent or wrong? In this talk, the issue of data consistency will be dealt with. The talk will conclude by briefly introducing the project that I will be working on whilst at Loughborough, which will analyse big data associated with social media platforms such as Twitter to find out what kinds of difference in reaction to COVID-19 are there between different groups of people and possibly trace the origins of the COVID-19 outbreaks.

To register for this event, please contact Laura Dale (l.dale@lboro.ac.uk) who will send you a Microsoft Teams invite.
