Automation and robotics

We support the development of UK manufacturing within this area through our intelligent automation solutions.

The competitiveness, and productivity of high value manufacturing is increasingly dependent on the ability to embed intelligence within manufacturing automation, such as smart machines, robotics and cobotics.

Our research is playing a vital role with the development of intelligent manufacturing processes and more autonomous machines and technologies for processes that have previously been considered too difficult to automate. These solutions are transforming manufacturing, improving production efficiency and maintaining high levels of quality.

A human centric approach is taken in our research, considering the important role people will play in future highly automated manufacturing environments. There is often a focus on creating automation solutions that remove the need to place people in difficult, dirty or dangerous environments; allowing human control to be provided from remote and safe environments.
