In the past few weeks, you will likely have learned a lot of new things and developed new skills. For some, it might be working remotely for the first time and others, mastering technology to deliver lectures or engage remotely with new colleagues.
The University has a wealth of online learning resources available to support your continued development whilst working remotely and will be adding more new material in the coming weeks.
Learning New Skills
All Loughborough staff have free access to LinkedIn Learning, an online learning platform that can help you acquire software, technology, business and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals.
The resource offers access to over 5000 video tutorials, some just a few minutes long, as well as longer courses on a wide range of subjects including Leadership Skills, Remote Management, Change Management, Agile Working, Creative Approaches to Problem Solving and Digital Skills.

Enhancing Specialist Knowledge and Skills
Researchers
The Doctoral College has created a Learn module, Remote Learning for Researchers, to act as a hub for the development needs of researchers whilst the campus is closed. Enrolled users can view selected Doctoral College workshops, access a video library and browse some suggested resources from LinkedIn Learning. Further resources will be added in the coming weeks.
Doctoral Researchers are automatically enrolled on this Learn module, but research staff must be added manually. To gain access, email doctoralcollege@lboro.ac.uk with your name and staff number.
IT Skills
IT services has curated a LinkedIn Learning playlist for those who would like to learn how to utilise Office 365 effectively, with specific resources for Office 365 for Windows and Office 365 for Mac.
Finance
The University has subscribed to the British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG) which provides access to a small range of specialist finance-related e-learning modules. Staff who don't work in finance but would benefit from understanding more about its function, the HE finance context and financial terminology may find the Finance for Non-Financial Managers module a useful resource.
Health and Safety
Those who have already attended the face-to-face Fire Marshals training course may wish to refresh their knowledge by visiting the online material on Learn.
External Online Learning Resources
A wealth of free online courses from world-class universities, companies and cultural institutions can be found on Futurelearn. It has a wide range of courses on subjects such as Emotional Intelligence at Work, Management and Leadership: Growing as a Manager and What is a Mind? - all of which can be completed within four to eight weeks.
Coursera has short courses (10-14 hours) on subjects such as Science of Exercise, Innovation Management and Creative Problem Solving.
The Open University also has a wide range of free courses on Open Learn that last between 2-24 hours. Subjects include Leadership in Turbulent Times, Harnessing Diversity and Inclusiveness, Working in Diverse Teams, Effective Communication in the Workplace, Making Creativity and Innovation Happen and Difficult Conversations.
TED Talks
TED Talks are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, technology and creativity. Subjects which may interest you include Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace, Leadership, Team Working, Emotional Intelligence, Big Data and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
TED-Ed Videos are short video lessons aimed at educators and students which may help with home schooling.
