Campus runs and walks
Walking and running are two of the simplest and cheapest ways to keep fit. There is no need for special equipment, just a supportive pair of shoes and you can start walking slowly and build up gradually.
Loughborough University contains numerous fantastic walking or running routes which stretch across the 438 acre campus. The sustainability team have put together numerous walking or running routes which all travel past numerous campus landmarks, which are available on the sustainability site.

Specifically designed for students and staff who want to exercise, keep fit and play sport for fun in an environment free from competition, expectation and commitment. Whether you’re returning to the game or have never played before, our well organised, well-structured sessions cater for all abilities.
Loughborough University campus is home to numerous open spaces, and has areas specifically designed as active areas. Whether it be the Paddock, Running Routes, or the newly installed Climbing Wall, there are always areas on campus well suited for staff to keep active.
We are renowned for providing staff and students with an excellent sporting experience in our world-class gym facilities. With Powerbase and Holywell Park Fitness Centre located on campus, there is a whole range of health and fitness classes, equipment and advice available to you. Whatever your fitness goals, experience or level of ability there is something for everyone.
Cycle to work
The University is committed to creating a green campus and promoting health and fitness amongst employees. In support of this we run a scheme to help employees with the cost of purchasing a bicycle and related equipment, where you can save up to 42% on the cost of a bicycle. So, if you’re considering cycling to work, we could save you some serious money.
The Cycle2Work scheme is only available to employees who have completed six months service with the University. For more information on the scheme visit the Cycle2Work website.
Loughborough University plays a leading role in the economic, social and cultural development of the region and aims to build on relationships with the local community. The University has introduced an employer supported volunteering policy as part of its commitment to community engagement and corporate social responsibility. It is intended to support, encourage and develop employees by facilitating their involvement in volunteering opportunities within the community and for charitable organisations. Voluntary activities should be of mutual benefit to the employee, the University and the community. This policy applies to all substantive members of Loughborough University staff, in all projects approved by the University.
Physiotherapy and spa facilities
Loughborough University is home to numerous spa and physiotherapy facilities for staff. Whether it is to reduce pain, increase strength or movement, or just for general wellbeing, there are opportunities for staff to access fantastic services and facilities.
The vision of Fruit Routes is to plant fruit, nut trees and edible plants along footpaths and cycle paths across the university campus creating a spring snowfall of blossom and an autumnal abundance of fresh fruits and berries for harvesting, foraging, eating and distributing.
