Working Abroad as an English-language school Assistant

The Foreign-Language Work Placement Abroad Scheme is for students with a minimum of an AS-Level in French, German or Spanish, equivalent to a level 4 in the University-Wide Language Programme at Loughborough.

The Year Abroad Tutor will actively guide you through the application process, and your application should reach the British Council by the beginning of December in the year before you go abroad. Experience in mentoring younger students and interests in sport and everyday British culture are good elements of a successful application.

Working abroad is an excellent chance to immerse yourself in a foreign language and get work experience at the same time.

The majority of our students on work placements opt for Assistantships, but you can also apply for other work placements abroad and the department will actively support you in your applications.
