Mathematics

I was attracted to the University for the support it provides to students, including the Maths Learning Support Centre, which I have found really helpful during my time here.

Why did you choose Loughborough University?

Mathematics intrigued me from a very young age and hence I wanted to pursue it further. I enjoyed thinking logically and this is something you have to do a lot when studying mathematics. I thought the idea of the Maths Learning Support Centre was great and that was one of the main reasons I chose the Mathematics Department in Loughborough.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I enjoy the satisfaction I get from understanding difficult concepts and solving challenging problems. My favourite module has to be Game Theory; I enjoyed how it was taught and found the applications of this module in the real world very interesting. You are also able to choose a language to study as a part of your degree which I find quite different and a great addition to the course.

What do you think of the teaching quality and the support available?

The teaching quality is good and there are a lot of resources available on learn to support lecture material which is always helpful. The Maths Learning Support Centre is a big support system; there are also Peer Assisted Learning sessions for difficult modules which are helpful.

What do you think of the social atmosphere on campus?

There are many societies to join as a student here. I have been a part of the Salsa dance society which I really enjoyed. The sports facilities are also amazing; I am able to use the massive swimming pool whenever I like and I can go and play badminton every week for free and so much more!

Has Loughborough inspired you?

Almost every person I’ve met here has inspired me in some way or the other and the extracurricular activities are an added bonus to your academic learning.
