Each year the United Nations observes the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to promote the full and equal access and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. 2024 is the ninth observance of this important day and Loughborough University has arranged an event to celebrate the contributions of its female academics across STEM disciplines.
Our event, taking place on Wednesday 14th February, will feature a panel of female academics from the School of Science discussing their own academic journeys, touching on a number of topics surrounding women's participation in science and their contributions. We hope it will be an engaging and interactive event with opportunities for those attending to pose their own questions and comments to the panel.
In addition to the discussion, we will be further showcasing the diverse research and teaching interests of our Loughborough academic staff and doctoral researchers through an exhibition of photographic profiles.
Our University photographer will be in attendance and, for those who would like to, there is an opportunity for female scientists (including PhD students) to have their photograph taken and be included in future exhibitions.
If you cannot make the event for any reason, you can view the exhibition online on our specially created webpage.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to this event. All are welcome, but to help us manage numbers, please register your attendance using the booking form.
