Donna Cross

I’m a disabled mature student currently doing a masters degree in creative writing I have a 9 year old son who big into acting. I hope to have a police procedural/crime/thriller book published with the work I put in for my dissertation. I mainly do poetry and short stories, so this is a big change for me but something I’ve wanted to do for many years now.

Professor Louise Grove

I’ve written an ‘ode’ of sorts to professor Louise Grove of the criminology department at Loughborough. She inspired me so much when I started my undergraduate degree in 2016 and we’ve become good friends since.

Ode to professor Louise Grove

Igniting imaginations with a
Nurturing heart of moss and gold
Stronger than you realise
Passionate, brave and strong
Invigorating and fortifying with
Ribbons of knowledge unfurling,
A stream guiding the lost
Touching the lives of many
In ways you’ll never see
Oaks flourished of acorns
Nurtured souls soaring high
All given flight in the blue
Lives enriched because of you
