Student team - Technical Support 2023/24

Applications now open to join our paid student team as a technician to help with the practical delivery of our events programme.

Do you have basic joinery skills and an understanding of Audi Visual equipment? Are you interested in the arts outside of your studies? Then why not apply to join our Student Team as a technician and earn some money?

We are looking to appoint one or more student(s) to our Student Team in 2021/22 in a technical support role. The Student Team is a group of students who help us deliver different aspects of our programme. The technician will help with the installation of exhibitions in Martin Hall Gallery and pop-up events in other parts of the campus and town as well as setting up spaces for workshops, performances and other events as required. (We hope that we will be able to run a fuller programme of face to face events in 2021/22).

The ideal candidate will have some basic joinery/woodworking skills and an understanding of Audio Visual equipment. Essentially we want you to be someone who is comfortable using a range of tools or AV devices and have the practical skills to support our activity. You don’t need to be an expert though and if necessary we can provide training.

The hours are causal and very intermittent, depending on what events are taking place and when, and you will be expected to be flexible in terms of when you work. This is an opportunity to gain good experience and will support your future employability rather than being a regular financial income. Our student technicians are paid £9.99 per hour.

This role is open to all students (UG or PG) on any course based on the East Midlands campus; it would be an advantage to have an interest in the arts but you do not need to be studying for an arts-related degree.

LU Arts is committed to inclusivity and representing the student community we serve. We welcome applications from students of all backgrounds.

For more information on the role and how to apply, download the application form below. For informal enquiries and questions please email Nick SLater (n.slater@lboro.ac.uk).

Application deadline: 5pm on Monday 18 October 2021.

Accessibility

We want this opportunity to be accessible to all students. To support this, we will accept applications in different formats e.g. audio, large print, if this is more appropriate for you. If you would like to discuss any accessibility issues in advance of applying or need further support, then please email luarts@lboro.ac.uk or call 01509 222948.
