Athletics scholar Charlie Dobson (coach: Benke Blomkvist) has been selected to compete for Great Britain & Norther Ireland in the 4 x 400m at the World Relays taking place in Poland on the 1st – 2nd May.

The World Junior medallist from 2018, and 2020 BUCS 60m Champion, has only raced over the 400m once, but his 45.84 from last year’s Loughborough August Invitational was good enough to see him ranked 3rd in the UK for the year.

Dobson will be joined by a strong Loughborough alumni presence on the team, including Martyn Rooney (Nick Dakin), Amy Allcock (Glyn Hawkes), Emily Diamond (Blomkvist), Jessie Knight (Marina Armstrong) and Jess Turner (Dakin).

Femi Akinsanya, Loughborough’s Director of Athletics, commented:

“Congratulations to Charlie and his coach Benke for receiving Charlie’s first Senior International call up. To be surrounded by so many familiar Loughborough faces will make the experience even better. It is the perfect start to an Olympic year, and we wish the whole team the best of luck.”
