Loughborough University is one of the leading higher education institutions for golf in the UK. We run a program designed to develop golf to the highest standard, and our 30-person mixed squad comprises of golfers with a handicap range from scratch to mid-single figures.
Athletic Union Club
Selection for our squad is done through a competitive trials process, and team selection takes place weekly through our selection committee. We are also supported by the R&A who provide funding to the programme and to gifted individuals. Our programme provides you with all the support you need to maximise your potential as a golfer and you can be a part of maintaining Loughborough’s position at the top of British University sport.
Training comprises of regular range sessions with supplemented range balls, specific strength and conditioning support, nutritional support, psychology workshops, individual psychological support, swing coaching sessions and a discounted Powerbase membership.
We have three teams that compete in the BUCS league and knockout competitions. We also help our players reach BUCS student tour events which allows you to play at some of the finest courses in the UK. The elite programme consists of three teams (with members playing off scratch), and the teams compete weekly in the Premier North division, Midlands 1A and Midlands 2B respectively. We also send a team to a series of BUCS stroke play events to compete against other Universities from around the country.
Our base is Park Hill Golf Club who provide golf all year round at a heavily discounted rate. We also work closely with Charnwood Golf & Leisure Complex to arrange practice facilities and lessons for our recreational squad. Top players can also apply for a mini-scholarship that allows you access to the prestigious Longcliffe Golf Club.
