Taylor Campbell threw a huge 74.98m

Saturday 7th March saw Loughborough University host the annual UK Winter Long Throws Invitational Meeting at the HiPAC on campus.

Many of the UK’s best throwers competed in the hope of earning a place on the Great Britain team for the European Winter Throwing Cup in Portugal, later this month.

The highlight of the day came from Loughborough Alumni Taylor Campbell in the Hammer Throws with a personal best and Paris 2020 European Championships qualifier of 74.98m. Whilst the ladies' overall performance of the day went to Reading AC’s Charlotte Payne, also in the Hammer, with a World Junior Championships qualifying mark of 60.73m. Both won a special performance of the day prize from Pulseroll for their outstanding achievements.

Winning prizes for improvement of the day, this time from the British Athletics Supporters Club, was Bethany Moule, with a 3 metre personal best in the Ladies Javelin and Daniel Bainbridge in the Men’s Javelin.

Daniel, a Loughborough Student, broke the 70m barrier for the first time and finished 2nd in the process. Finally, the Senior Ladies performance of the day went to Discus thrower Kirsty Law, who just missed out on a European Championships qualification mark, with a best throw of 56.38m.

Thank you to our sponsors for the event, Pulseroll, Red Bull and the British Athletics Supporters Club.
