She is also no stranger to the England set-up and marked her World Sevens Series debut in 2017 with a try in the Challenge Trophy Final against Brazil.

Fellow DMP Sharks player Kat Hobson also joins the Lightning squad after impressing at International level, after her selection in the England Women National Academy squad that played Canada Women 'A' in November 2018.

The agile forward who has also spent time at full-back for DMP Sharks and will bring a real injection of pace and leadership into the already dangerous Lightning forward pack.

Of the signing of Woosey, Edwards said:

“Rachael Woosey has played across the backline for DMP this year, but for me she will really add value in our back three. She is a proven international player, has played in the national academy and has had a real impact playing for our Scimitar Storm sevens team this summer. We are excited to see her be a really clinical finisher for us this season.”

Rhys added:

“Kat Hobson has really impressed me over the past few years whilst playing for DMP Sharks. Playing in a tough DMP team she has been a standout player and comes with a real point of difference in her play. She is a mobile back row who has previous experience playing in the backs, so her ability to play in space will be really valuable to us this season.”
