Why did you choose to study at Loughborough University?
I chose to study at Loughborough because I immediately felt a great sense of community when I visited on an open day.
Everyone, including the lecturers, was incredibly welcoming. It seemed as though there would be an endless amount of opportunities for me if I chose to study here.
What's your favourite thing about Loughborough?
My favourite thing about Loughborough is the range ways that you can explore your interests.
This can be done through sports or volunteering or a society.
Whatever you do, you begin to feel like you are part of a family here.
Why did you decide to study your course?
I always knew I that I was going to study English at university, but the fact that English at Loughborough was solely coursework definitely sealed the decision for me.
What do you enjoy the most about your course?
I enjoy being exposed to a range of books that I wouldn't normally turn to, and having the freedom to become very passionate about certain texts or authors.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
I think that the quality of teaching is very high, lecturers are always willing to listen to your ideas and provide feedback.
The range of resources provided for us in class, and from the library, are extremely helpful.
Did you have a particular favourite module/project on your course? If so, what?
My favourite module this semester has to be 'The Weird Tale', because I find the topics and stories interesting every single week.
What kind of support have you had in the School, and from the University?
My lecturers have provided a lot of support with module content and assessment. They have also been supportive when I was deciding on module options and when it comes to thinking about the future.
The University have been supportive in regards to my physical and mental wellbeing throughout the year, and I always feel like I have someone to go to if I need help.
What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your degree support this?
I hope to go into teaching when I graduate, but I also plan to eventually complete a PhD.
As I want to be an English teacher my degree means that I will have a wealth of knowledge to teach students about, and I think a lot of skills acquired whilst completing an English degree are readily transferable to a teaching role.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about coming to Loughborough, what would it be?
Don't be scared to get involved and do what makes you happy.
Has Loughborough inspired you? If so, how?
While being a student at Loughborough University, it is hard to not be inspired to work hard for what you want.
I am inspired each day to keep pushing towards my goals, and I know that mindset has been developed by being surrounded by the inspiring people here.
