English graduate adds to his list of football-inspired publications

In his latest work, No Final Whistle, BA English and Sport Science graduate Seth Burkett draws on his experience as a professional footballer to write a story for young adults.

No Final Whistle focuses on budding footballer Alfie Bennett, who is accepted into a well-known football academy but discovers that life as a budding footballer is not as glamorous as it seems.

Seth said: “I wanted to write something that would inspire young readers and teach the power of resilience. I am excited to have this book released and hope that it is the start of something bigger.”

No Final Whistle has been described by Chelsea and Brazil playmaker, Willian, as “a great story for all football fans”.

Seth’s first book, The Boy in Brazil, documents his experience of playing for the Brazilian team, Sorriso, and was shortlisted for the 2015 British Sport Book Awards. He later collaborated with the England futsal manager, Michael Skubala, on Developing the Modern Footballer Through Futsal and ghostwrote Neil Beasley’s narrative - Football's Coming Out - which was longlisted for the 2016 William Hill Sports Book of the Year.
