Lauren graduated from Loughborough University in 2020 with a BSc in Psychology and returned the following academic year to study her MSc in Social Science Research (Communication and Media) as part of a 1+3 ESRC studentship.
In October 2021, Lauren began studying her PhD looking at the use of smart speakers in dementia care. Her supervisors are Dr Saul Albert, Prof. Elizabeth Peel and Prof. Charles Antaki.
The aim of the research is to identify how agency is maintained in people living with dementia with the use of smart speakers.
Lauren’s research looks at the maintenance of agency in people living with dementia with the use of smart speakers. She will use conversation analysis to examine interactions between people living with dementia and their careers in their own homes.
Another focus of her research will involve interviews with people living with dementia and their carers to gain a perception of how the smart speakers are used in this setting.
