Profile

I qualified as a registered nurse in the adult field in 1995 and have had a varied career in nursing, including Intensive Care, Neurological Intensive Care, In-Flight nursing, and community nursing within General Practice.

I went on to specialise in medical ethics, with a master's degree from Imperial College.

For the last 20 years, I have worked as a senior lecturer in Nursing for the University of Nottingham and the University of Lincoln. I have worked with pre-registration, apprenticeship, and post-registration education.

Research

My research title is, Identity work in palliative care: A Conversation Analytic study of interactions with newly diagnosed patients.

Working with our partner organisation, Treetops Hospice, I will be recording and observing conversations between hospice volunteers and individuals facing the end of their lives who attend a well-being service with their significant others, which is hosted by the Hospice.
