Student wellbeing and inclusivity
Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWAI) are here to support students studying alongside disability, mental health or wellbeing circumstances. We support students on all levels of study from Foundation to Post Graduate Research based at East Midlands and London campuses.
We are committed to ensuring that our students receive the support they need to succeed.
We recognise that for some students this means additional preparation is needed to ensure that disability and health requirements are considered. To help us arrange appropriate support, we ask that you share information with Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWAI) about your disability and/or health situation via this secure portal. Our specialist advisors, who are trained health and wellbeing professionals, can then work with you prior to your arrival to help ensure your transition to University is as smooth as possible.
To help us plan and prepare for your arrival, we ask that your share your disability detail with us via our secure Disability and Health Portal.
The Student Advice and Support Service
The Student Advice and Support Service provide advice on practical issues that might affect your time at university. These range from student money matters (student finance, hardship funds, budgeting, dealing with debts) to Academic changes and housing rights (contracts, deposits, repairs).
We also offer specialist advice and support is also available for international students on student visas, dependent and graduate visas, permission to work and other immigration matters.
We hold Advice Quality Standard (AQS) accreditation. We are also members of AdviceUK, UKCISA and NASMA, and abide by the IAA Code of Standards for immigration advice.
Incident reporting
We understand that coming to university may be the first time you’ve had the personal space to reflect on past experiences. It may also be the first time you feel safe enough to report violence or abuse.
It is important for you to know that we have a caring and dedicated Duty Assessment and Inclusion Team. They are on hand to provide comfort, support and refuge to every student in need.
We have an online reporting tool which allows you to securely report an incident. You can complete the form for yourself, on behalf of another person or about something you have witnessed. It doesn’t matter whether the incident occurred one week, one month or one year ago – you can still let us know via the reporting portal.
