Your offer explained

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study with us! Whether your place is conditional or unconditional, we've explained what this means to you.

You don't need to wait until you've met all of your conditions before accepting your offer.

If you are ready to accept now, you can do this at any time in the application portal and your status will be updated to conditional provisional.

Please see our Key deadlines page for full details of deadlines.

Unconditional offer

If we have made you an unconditional offer, we are satisfied that you have met all of the entry requirements for your programme. Whilst we will not ask for further confirmation of your qualifications, we may ask you to prove you have your funding in place.

If you accept an unconditional offer via the application portal, your status will be updated to 'Unconditional Firm' and you will be guaranteed a place on your programme.

Conditional offer

If your place to study with us is conditional, your offer email will have included any academic or non-academic conditions that you will need to meet. When you have met the conditions of your offer, you can upload evidence of these to the application portal. Once all of your conditions have been met, your status will change to unconditional.

Example conditions are:

meet our English language requirements
provide a satisfactory academic reference
obtain an upper second-class honours degree

English language requirements

You must have an approved English language qualification to be accepted onto your programme, even if English is your first language.

Our standard IELTS English language requirement is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some schools and departments may require higher levels of English language than this - your requirements will be stated in your offer letter.

Your English qualification should have been awarded within the previous two years but where the test is older, evidence of continuing use of English in the intervening period, whether in the workplace or elsewhere, may be required.

For details of English tests that we accept in addition to IELTS, please see our list of approved English qualifications. If you find you are a little below our requirements, or meet them but want to improve your academic English - you might want to consider our pre-sessional English programmes below.

Don't quite meet our English language requirements?

If you do not meet our English requirements, we offer pre-sessional English language programmes as an alternative way to meet our requirements.
