I researched into polystyrene housing in Kenya. Developers in Kenya had begun building houses from polystyrene to offer residents better protection from the hot sub-Saharan sun while being environmentally friendly. The panels were made with a light polystyrene and a byproduct of oil refining, which consisted of mini spherical particles containing air. I looked at diagrams of this production and I chose to design my model based on that. Referring back to joining methods I used foam board and thin plastic that was easy to cut small slits in with a scalpel I then fitted them together to form a structure that would stand straight with each bit of plastic relying on each other.
