For many years, the School's MSc Strategic Leadership programme has supported organisations to develop current and future leaders through a work-based postgraduate qualification. However, changes to the Level 7 Apprenticeship funding eligibility criteria have altered how some professionals can access leadership development programmes through the apprenticeship route.
The refreshed MSc programme reflects the School's ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of employers whilst maintaining the academic rigour and workplace relevance for which its executive and professional education portfolio is known.
This year's cohort includes professionals from a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, sport, financial services and member organisations. Together, they bring a wealth of professional experience and perspectives. This creates a rich learning environment where participants can share challenges, explore new approaches to leadership and develop valuable cross-sector networks.
Designed for experienced professionals who are already leading teams, functions or strategic initiatives, the programme combines academic insight with practical workplace application. This means employers benefit from the immediate application of learning to organisational priorities, while simultaneously developing the next generation of senior leaders.
Commenting on the launch of the refreshed programme, Dr Belinda Dewsnap, Programme Lead for the MSc in Strategic Leadership, said: “The leadership challenges facing organisations continue to evolve at pace, making investment in leadership capability more critical than ever. While the funding landscape has changed, the need for organisations to develop strategic leaders has not.
“In redesigning the programme, we were determined to preserve access to a high-quality, work-based leadership qualification that enables organisations to see immediate value while developing their future leaders. Participants apply their learning directly to organisational priorities throughout the programme, ensuring that leadership development translates into tangible impact from day one.”
As organisations continue to navigate change, complexity and uncertainty, Loughborough Business School remains committed to providing accessible and impactful development opportunities that help employers build the leadership capability required for their long-term success.
