Dr Nataliia Tofan

Nataliia Tofan graduated with an honors diploma from Odessa National Medical University in 2008, followed by an internship, clinical residency in Internal Medicine, and postgraduate study, concluding her specialist training in 2015. In 2015, she received a research grant for the CHRONEX-RD programme in Iași, Romania, where she completed training in "Biomedical Investigation – Molecular and Cellular Biology" and co-authored a paper in the Romanian Medical-Surgical Journal.
She successfully defended her PhD in clinical pharmacology in 2019, focusing on the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy for primary arterial hypertension combined with coronary artery disease in older adults. Her research led to several peer-reviewed publications and presentations at major international conferences, including those in Milan (2015) and Seoul (2019, 2021).
From 2013 to 2024, she taught the Internal Medicine Course to Ukrainian and English-speaking medical students at ONMU, continuing her research until February 2024, when her position was made redundant due to war-related staff reductions.
Her research interests include obesity, hypertension, cardiometabolic disease, nutrition, diet, physical activity, and well-being.
During their Fellowship, Dr Tofan is collaborating with Professor David Stensel from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences
