Dr Cristina Perdomo Delgado

Dr Cristina Perdomo Delgado is an Assistant Professor at Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid, Spain) and a board member of the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education (ENOTHE). A Spanish occupational therapist, she holds a PhD in Design from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Brazil and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Assistive Technologies from the University of Manitoba (Canada).
Her research focuses on the application of robot-assisted therapy in rehabilitation contexts, with particular interest in the use of social robots as complementary tools in interventions for older adults and people with disabilities. She also explores the role of emerging technologies in enhancing autonomy, participation, and quality of life across diverse healthcare and community settings. Currently, she coordinates international projects on technological usability and social robotics in rehabilitation in Spain, Chile, and Canada, fostering collaboration among research teams and professionals in health and technology fields.
Her work aims to integrate technological innovation into clinical practice, bridging science, design, and occupational therapy. Dr. Perdomo Delgado has been involved in several innovation and development initiatives that seek to improve professional practice and higher education in occupational therapy. Her research and teaching are guided by an interdisciplinary and human-centered perspective, committed to promoting a more inclusive, ethical, and technology-supported approach to rehabilitation.
During their IAS Fellowship, Dr Perdomo Delgado will be collaborating with Dr Emilene Zitkus from the School of Design and Creative Arts.
