IAS Residential Fellow Dr Mario Panico delivers a workshop for Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) -
The workshop will provide PhD students with the chance to discuss the useful tools to critically analyse AI-generated images in social and political contexts. Adopting a semiotic approach, we will work on key notions such as intertextuality, visual stereotypes, visual pathos and symbolic actors (heroes, victims, enemies). Through practical exercises on real images from digital media, we will discuss how these productions reflect (and deform) existing cultural codes, helping to shape collective emotions and ideological narratives. The workshop is designed for students from various disciplines interested in the analysis of contemporary imagery.
Arrivals from 11:45 am for a 12:00 noon start.
