On Wednesday 6th August we will be hosting an IAS Friends and Fellows Coffee Morning, where we will welcome current IAS Residential Fellows Dr Eefje Hendriks & Dr Sara Shaker.

Dr Eefje Hendriks, University of Twente

Dr Hendriks is Assistant Professor of Disaster Resilience and Humanitarian Assistance. They have a track record in the field of disaster risk reduction, disaster resilience, humanitarian assistance, self-recovery, and decision-making. They have studied and worked in humanitarian assistance/aid, post-disaster reconstruction, shelter and settlement, migration in Europe, and adaptation to climate change of the built environment for more than 10 years, especially in hazard prone areas in low-income countries. They lecture on humanitarian engineering, disaster risk reduction, disaster resilience, methodology, and organize in-situ/fieldwork research for students.

Dr Sara Shaker, University of Prince Edwards Island's Cairo Campus

Dr Sara Shaker is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Prince Edward Island’s Cairo branch, specializing in political science, gender politics, sociology & social anthropology and Middle Eastern studies. Her interdisciplinary scholarship draws from political science, sociology, anthropology, art, and politics, examining how marginalized voices articulate resistance through non-traditional media, particularly comics.
